WAVM Faculty Advisor, Jeff LoebJeff considers WAVM, "an unique and highly valuable media activity in which students are at the core of operating both the radio and television stations and receive invaluable training from one another in media production, organizational and management skills. In few other high school "clubs" have I seen such a level of student commitment and zeal, spotlighted by but no means restricted to the annual Telethon. The stations are a focal point for students, parents and the community and reflect ongoing contributions from all these parties. Despite a difficult year, I was and am still very impressed by WAVM!""My toughest assignment was to follow on the heels of Joe Magno who was revered by the student and parent community. There was a feeling of great loss when he left, a need to carry on his traditions and a consequent slump in morale and participation on the part of some upperclass students. I also shared the running of the station with another adult who worked different hours, so the come and go of the two of us made coordination even more difficult." Jeff recently has developed and implemented a course in Media Literacy for the middle school students he teaches in Newton. Return to The Faculty Advisor
