"WAVM: Behind the Scenes"
(An article published in 1977)
"The key to WAVM's success has been hard-working young men and women, approximately one hundred of them. They are involved in the daily preparation and production of shows for the station's 50 hour a week broadcast schedule. Every member, duly licensed by the Federal Communications Commission, assists in some aspect of the station's operation in addition to broadcasting.
Dedicated to serving the public, the young men and women of WAVM have begun a program of bringing live church services and special holdiay broadcasts into the homes of shut-ins and the elderly. During Christmas and Easter they are on the air around the clock and devote many long week-ends to this special effort.
To the many people who can't make it to the game, WAVM's broadcast of Maynard High School sporting events has become a local favorite. Special ethnic-oriented programs reflecting the varied heritages of Maynard residents, the broadcast of the local Town Meetings and children's story hours beldn together harmoniaously and heighten community pride. A four hour daily block in the schedule brings easy listening, country, Broadway, polkas, and jazz into the homes of our many friends. The staff at WAVM has been striving to satisfy the tastes of everyone and their efforts are most commendable"
